Brain cells communicate in Social Networks, too
[MARCH, 2017] Brain cells communicate in social networks, too! NSF-funded researcher and Rice bioengineering professor Amina Qutub, and NSF Neuroengineering IGERT Fellow Arun Mahadevan were featured on the NSF Facebook page for their research. The scientists can now capture and study more of these conversations with new tools. No evidence of micro-sized "like" buttons so far, though.
Mahadevan is submitting a methods paper this week, and Dr. Qutub will present on the project at the Annual Mayo Clinic Neuroengineering meeting in Rochester at the end of March. Jacob Robinson, Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Dan Wagner, Associate Professor of Biosciences, are co-PI's on the related NSF grant.
